Detective Conan is a Japanese mystery TV series based on the manga of the same name written and illustrated by Gosho Aoyama. It was first broadcast in 1996 as an annual, but after its 13th year, the show started being divided into seasons of 12 episodes each. It is currently being broadcast as a monthly anime series on NHK-E. The first episode premiered on October 4, 1996 during a YTV Special on Sunday evening at 5:30 PM, and it achieved 100 million viewers within 3 days of its debut. With such a huge success, the show took over the time slot previously held by Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball GT. It was released as a movie in April 1997, and became the first animated movie to be released in IMAX theaters. The first appearance of Conan Edogawa (the main character) was on April 16, 1996 issue of Shonen Sunday. After that, manga series has been published under Gosho Aoyama's signature up to date. In Indonesia, it is also aired dubbed into Indonesian on RCTI every Friday night at 7:30 pm since September 2013 by MNC Animation through their partnership with Turner Broadcasting System Asia Pacific (South East Asia). The dubbed version was broadcast in Malaysia on TV3 from 2010 to 2012. In Hong Kong, it is aired dubbed on ATV World and TVB Pearl (全球快捷寶鑽新聞廣場) In 2008, the season 13 of the anime were adapted into a series of manga by Aoyama Gosho and published by Shogakukan in their "Weekly Shōnen Sunday" magazine. It is currently serialized by Shogakukan (previously by Kodansha), and released through their "Sunday GX" online website. The chapters are then published in "Weekly Shōnen Sunday" January 2010 issue, the final chapter of the manga was released on 23 January 2010. A new manga, titled Detective Conan: The Scarlet Denza, will be released on 21 November 2011. An official novelization of the first half of the original TV series was written by Kohei Yamamoto and published by Shogakukan under their "Sunday GX" online website. In 1996, Aoyama Gosho launched a manga adaptation of his popular mystery series Detective Conan/Case Closed under Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Sunday magazine. The manga has been adapted into an anime series since 1996, as well as many movies. In Japan, the manga is still published under Shogakukan now, with 39 tankōbon volumes released as of July 2009. The release of Detective Conan in North America was done by Viz Media from 2003 until 2015. Viz has also released the first 15 volumes in a series of Perfect Edition release. Currently, they have discontinued publishing new volumes and instead published a graphic novel called Case Closed: The Phantom of Baker Street which is a novelization for the first 20 episodes of the anime. cfa1e77820
